In the next few months, I will be applying and putting my time into the universities I have interest in. I am planning to go to university or college right after I graduate. I will be taking my bachelor of arts and taking classes in the faculty of socials and arts. This will take four years to complete. At the moment, I am open to any college or university in my area that would like me to be apart of their school! I will then pursue teaching by taking my PDP. This PDP program I can only take at certain universities. The schools around here that offer the PDP program are SFU, UBC, and TWU. After my schooling is finished, I will be able to start off my career as a teacher.
Teaching is the career I have been aspiring since I was eight or seven years old. I had an amazing grade two teacher that showed me how fun teaching is. With having three younger siblings, I have learned to teach them within an area: learning how to walk, teaching them how to read, and now I am on to helping them with division and multiplication. Teaching has been apart of me every since the beginning. If I get to have a job that I am so passionate about, then I know that I will be happy with this career. The ultimate goal is to become a teacher. I know I will reach this goal due to the fact that I am that type of person when determined, will accomplish. Believe it or not, I really enjoy school. I love working hard and learning, so I know university won’t be an issue. This goal of mine is achievable because of my love for it. If I did not love teaching and helping children as much as I do, I would not be able to continue along this career path.
University costs so much money. In fact, people in their forties can still carry their student loans with them. In order to achieve a diploma, you need to find some way of paying off that money. Luckily, I will get this resource through my job I am working right now. I am a part-time hostess at a restaurant and put all my money into savings. As well, I babysit and tutor which gives me pocket money. Fortunately, my parents will be helping me pay off my university tuition; however not all of it. It is up to me to apply for bursaries, scholarships, and save up money on my work to pay off the schooling.
Another hardship with university is finding the time, energy, and equipment. Time is a huge struggle because you need to find time to finish your homework, go to school, work, and still have a social life. This all comes down to planning. I love being organized and writing down my schedule; I would for sure be able to balance my time, making sure I find the perfect time for everything to be finished. Energy will be found through lots of sleep. If I try and stick to my sleep schedule, this won’t be a problem! As for equipment, I will pay for my binders, pens, textbooks and so on. Transportation may be a struggle at times because of the price of gas. But, I know I will always find a solution, whether it is carpooling, taking the bus and so on.
In order to increase my chances of success at this career. I know I should put my all into the career of teaching and child care. I will continue pursuing this job by volunteering and working in this field. As I mentioned before, I regularly tutor elementary school students which gives me an insight on different learning styles and how to approach each student differently. Over the next few years, I will continue to volunteer at summer kids camps, working at Sunday school, working in youth groups etc. Taking every and any opportunity I can find will allow me to over achieve my goals!
