I believe that becoming an elementary school teacher matches my personality completely. Teachers need to show that they care for their students. They need to create a positive and a healthy environment to show their students that they are safe and cared for. A teacher needs to care and hear everyone’s opinion. This is one of the reasons why I think this job is perfect for me; because I am a good listener and I care for what others have to say. Being an elementary school teacher, they need to find ways to be creative, so the children get excited to learn. As a teacher, they, at some point, may have to be creative and teach a concept a different way to allow certain children to understand. This is why teaching would be good for me, because I love problem solving and I am creative. I could apply my problem solving techniques to help students in the classroom. Along with working in this department, you need to be neat and organized. Teachers should have a schedule and have everything in order. I have the need to keep everything clean and tidy. Applying this to any job in particular makes everything more efficient and orderly. As a teacher, being organized will not only help me, but also even helps everyone around me (the students, the classroom parents etc.).
One of my strongest personality traits for being a teacher is to be conscientious. Teachers should be very diligent and hardworking. Problem solving and getting the work done properly is a must for working in this career. Another thing teachers should obtain is creativity. Educators should try to think outside of the box and should be good problem solves by coming up with a better solutions. The last strongest personality trait that hopefully all teachers should have is kindness. Teachers should have the need to help somebody out when they are struggling or in need of help. They should be patient with others and care about what they have to say. Teachers need to be happy and love their job and be excited to go there everyday. This not only makes them a happier, healthier person, but allows their students feel joyful too.
I believe I am completely suitable for this career! I love others, and have the need to help others no matter what situation they are in. I am also very organized and very Type A. What I mean by type A is that I love everything perfect and in a certain order. I love schedules and knowing what is happening in that day. I am also very observant which is so helpful when working in a school. I will be able to see if students are struggling or if they need more help in class. If I could develop any skills and abilities in the next few years, I would love to obtain more patience. At times I can be very patient and go through everything slowly and listen to what others have to say. At other times, I am so restless and just want to get the job done. This is something I could work on by reminding myself in those situations to be patient and realize that if I keep practicing patience, I will get better at it each time. Likewise, I can keep viewing how I am doing while I am volunteering and see what things I can work on for the future.
